Job Summary:
The Cost Accountant / Analyst is responsible for all areas relating to plant financial
reporting with a specific emphasis on product costing and variance analysis. This position addresses tight
deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including product costing, general ledger activities,
financial reporting, year-end audit preparations and expense/budget variance analysis.
Essential Job Functions:
• Reports directly to Cost Accounting Manager.
• Maintains line items for direct materials, labor, and overhead on the recipe.
• Calculate, analyze, account for, and report monthly cost variances for direct materials, direct
labor, indirect labor and manufacturing overhead.
• Work with other departments to conduct and reconcile physical inventory cycle counts and
analyze and report variances.
• Support the new product rollout process by creating/updating pricing workbooks and analysis of
product costs and margins.
• Ensures the timely reporting of all daily, weekly, and monthly financial information assigned.
• Responsible for reconciling sub-ledger to General Ledger for all inventory accounts.
• Participate in accrual accounting and balance sheet account analysis.
• Respond to inquiries from the President, Controller, and other stakeholders regarding financial
results, labor reporting and special requests.
• Participate in general ledger activities to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
• Willingness to “Go to floor” so as to better understand work flows and overall plant operations
as it relates to duties and responsibilities.
• Assist with special projects and workflow process improvements.
• Help assist accounting team to ensure a clean and timely and accurate year end audit
REQUIREMENTS:
• BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of cost experience in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills and Prior Experience
• Ability to collect, analyze, and draw conclusions from data of varying complexity, including plant
labor and productivity, and key performance metrics,
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Expert level Excel user
• Highly organized
• Must adhere to all HACCP and Food Safety policies, including Good Manufacturing Practices
(GMP’s)
• Must comply with all policies regarding Employee Safety and Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE)
Salary : $65,000 - $80,000
