Our Cincinnati-based restaurant group has owned and operated upscale full-service restaurants for over fifty years. We are looking for a full-time Controller for our office in Symmes Township, near Mason, Ohio. We offer a comfortable, relaxed workplace with a very flexible schedule, including the option of some remote work.
An effective Controller has a strong knowledge of accounting principles, must be organized, and must be detail oriented. This position will report to our Vice President and President.
Role Description
· Assist the Controller in managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of business results.
· Assist with cash management and cash forecasting.
· Manage period-end journal entry preparation.
· Prepare and upload reports for store sales activity and inventory.
· Coordinate period-end close.
· Complete preliminary P&L reviews.
· Prepare bank and other balance sheet reconciliations.
· Calculate and file sales and use tax returns.
· Prepare volume reports for landlords, handle rent payments.
· Coordinate and upload quarterly budgets.
· Prepare financial information as necessary for audits, licensing, etc.
· Analyze expenditures to assist with the identification of cost savings opportunities.
· Lead special projects as needed.
· Serve as backup for Accounts Payable and Payroll.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. CPA preferred.
· Restaurant accounting experience preferred, but not required.
· Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
· Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and/or other general ledger systems.
· Strong time management and organizational skills.
· Exceptional analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision under tight deadlines.
· Ability to communicate with co-workers, management, and vendors in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
· Ability to think at a high-level but also be detail-oriented.
