Capital Markets VP (Energy Transition & Infrastructure)

Job Description

This unique role places you within a growing, dynamic capital markets platform. Working directly alongside coverage bankers, internal project finance teams, and other product groups, you will advise clients on financing market developments and deliver optimal, structured debt solutions.

As a core competency for financing market intelligence, you will partner with a diverse range of clients—including corporations, traders, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), developers, and project finance sponsors—supporting transactions in North America and worldwide. This opportunity offers an exciting mix of responsibilities, from client origination and coverage to structuring, underwriting, and managing investor relationships across a variety of loan, bond, and private placement transactions.

You and Your Job

As an Energy Transition & Infrastructure Capital Markets Banker, you will drive and execute financing deals by leveraging specialized market intelligence, structuring financial products, and managing client and syndication relationships. You will engage in the marketing, structuring, execution, and management of Capital Markets activity in North America, with a specific focus on the project finance (PF) space and the broader Energy Transition (ET) and digital infrastructure complex (e.g., Data Centers, Renewable Energy).

Key Collaboration & Scope

• The Bridge: You will act as the crucial link between project mechanics and capital markets execution, knowing how to speak seamlessly to sponsors while identifying the exact moments to pull in internal product specialists.
• Collaboration: Interface directly with Relationship Managers, clients, and institutional investors (including banks, insurance companies, and fund managers).
• Platform Scale: You will leverage an agile, growing platform capable of underwriting significant ticket sizes (ranging from several hundred million up to multiple billions, including a recent $1B data center underwriting).

Job Responsibilities

• Market Intelligence: Further develop and track Energy Transition, Infrastructure, and Project Finance market intel across the loan, bond, and private placement markets.
• Deal Support & Feedback: Review and provide structural feedback on incoming term sheets and underlying transaction documents when tapped by the internal project finance teams.
• Client Pitching & Advisory: Coordinate the preparation of discussion materials and presentations; advise, pitch, and negotiate alongside coverage teams to win structuring and arrangement mandates.
• Structuring & Execution: Assess, structure, and underwrite complex financing proposals with a strong focus on the debt side (loans, investment-grade bonds, and US Private Placements (USPP)).
• Syndication & Network Management: Develop and execute syndication strategies while actively managing and expanding institutional investor relationships across banking peers and private placement investors.

Job Requirements

• Experience: 5 years of total experience in financial services preferably with relevant project finance experience
• Technical Skills: Solid understanding of project finance modeling, complex financing structures, and associated credit risks. Deep focus on the debt side is required; familiarity with tax equity is a distinct plus.
• Background Flexibility: Ideal candidates will come from a peer banking institution (e.g., active project finance/infrastructure lenders) or an IPP/Developer background. Candidates with a pure capital markets background who understand project finance, or vice versa, are highly encouraged to apply.
• Network: Established market relationships with banking peers and active institutional investors in the PF and ET spaces.
