Front Desk Host – Japanese Sushi/hibachi Restaurant
Location: 3421 Simpson Ferry Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011
Position Type: Part-Time / Full-Time
About the Role
We are looking for friendly, organized, and confident Front Desk Hosts who can create a welcoming first impression for our guests. Ideal candidates should have prior hosting experience, basic knowledge of Japanese cuisine, and the ability to stay calm and think clearly in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and manage the flow of the dining room
- Handle waitlists and seating arrangements accurately
- Guide guests through basic menu questions, especially relating to Japanese dishes and sushi terminology
- Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management
- Operate POS systems (any prior POS experience acceptable)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entry area
- Assist with takeout orders when needed
- Resolve guest issues or escalate to management using strong critical-thinking skills
- Stay calm, collected, and professional during busy hours or stressful situations
Qualifications
- Prior host experience highly preferred
- POS experience (any platform)
- Familiarity with Japanese cuisine or willingness to learn (sushi terminology, basic ingredients, common allergens, dining etiquette)
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure
- Professional, friendly attitude with a team-oriented mindset
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment
