About the Role:
As a Mechanic on the 1st Shift, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will directly contribute to minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency within the facility. You will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, and executing repairs in a timely and effective manner. Collaboration with other team members and departments will be essential to coordinate maintenance schedules and address urgent mechanical problems. Ultimately, your work will support the overall productivity and safety standards of the organization, ensuring that all machinery operates reliably throughout the shift.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar mechanical maintenance role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to comply with safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from a recognized trade school or technical program in mechanics or related field.
- Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Basic welding and fabrication skills.
- EPA certification or other relevant environmental and safety certifications.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment to identify potential issues before they lead to breakdowns.
- Diagnose mechanical failures using appropriate tools and techniques, and execute repairs or replacements as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with operations and safety teams to prioritize repair work and minimize disruption to production schedules.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Skills:
The required skills such as mechanical troubleshooting, use of diagnostic tools, and technical reading are essential for accurately identifying and resolving equipment issues on a daily basis. Effective communication and teamwork skills enable smooth coordination with other departments to schedule maintenance and minimize operational disruptions. Time management and organizational skills help prioritize tasks and maintain detailed maintenance records. Preferred skills like welding and familiarity with CMMS enhance the ability to perform a wider range of repairs and streamline maintenance tracking.
