About the Role:

The Mechanic role is critical in ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of diesel trucks and related heavy machinery. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex diesel engines, braking systems, and hydraulic components to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan. The successful candidate will work closely with a team to troubleshoot fuel systems, alternators, and other mechanical parts, ensuring all repairs meet industry standards and safety regulations. Attention to detail and a strong understanding of diesel mechanics are essential to identify issues accurately and implement effective solutions. Ultimately, this role supports operational efficiency by keeping the fleet in excellent working condition and preventing costly breakdowns.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or similar role working with diesel engines and heavy trucks.
• Strong knowledge of braking systems, hydraulics, fuel systems, and diesel engine components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate heavy vehicles as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification from a recognized automotive or diesel mechanic program (e.g., ASE certification).
• Experience working with advanced diagnostic tools and computerized engine management systems.
• Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations related to diesel vehicle maintenance.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced commercial or industrial maintenance environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on diesel trucks and heavy equipment, including brakes, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Repair or replace defective parts such as gaskets, alternators, and braking components to restore vehicle functionality.
• Conduct thorough inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory to support operational transparency.

Skills:

The required skills such as expertise in brakes, diesel engines, and hydraulics are applied daily to diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues efficiently. Knowledge of fuel systems and diesel mechanics enables the mechanic to maintain engine performance and fuel efficiency. Proficiency with gaskets and alternators is essential for replacing worn or damaged parts to prevent system failures. The ability to work with braking systems ensures vehicle safety and compliance with regulations. Preferred skills like advanced diagnostic tool usage and certification enhance the mechanic’s capability to troubleshoot problems accurately and perform repairs that meet high-quality standards.
