Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- May be responsible for the daily refueling and maintenance of construction equipment located at project site(s).
- Performs preventative maintenance on all vehicles and construction equipment.
- Performs state or pre-state safety inspections.
- Performs simple to highly complex computerized diagnostic testing/evaluation procedures to diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment.
- May direct the work of other mechanics or helpers, teaching/instructing them in appropriate procedures and practices, relays instructions from supervisor to others.
- Tests equipment for safe and efficient operation.
- May transport equipment.
- Makes road calls and field repairs as necessary.
- Orders or requests the acquisition of parts and supplies as needed.
- Designs, fabricates and builds special projects for vehicles and equipment.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED. An additional four (4) years of related experience may substitute for a high school diploma.
- Three (3) full-time years of experience as a full-time automotive mechanic required (heavy truck/offroad or diesel mechanic strongly preferred). Certification of graduation from an accredited Mechanic Trade School may substitute for one year of experience.
- A current and valid Class C driver license is required upon hire.
- A Class A CDL with a combination tanker and hazmat endorsement is required within eight (8) months of hire. May require certification in a specific trade or training such as A/C or ASE coursework.
- Controlled Area Network (CAN) experience preferred.
- Additional technician certifications and licenses preferred.
- Diagnosing and repairing highly complex off-road construction equipment with specialty certifications and licenses preferred.
