The Aquatic Center at the Resource Connection is a year-round, shallow-water, heated facility used for recreational swimming, therapeutic exercise, and learn-to-swim programs.

The Aquatic Attendant will be responsible for supporting the daily functions of the Resource Connection department, including assisting with facility operations by providing customer service, maintaining water chemistry, supporting program activities, managing equipment, and helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations. 

This role does not monitor the water or perform lifeguard surveillance, but works closely with lifeguards, instructors, special groups, and the Aquatic Supervisor to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all patrons.

  • Arrives on time for shifts and in the appropriate uniform. Greet patrons, provides facility tours, checks memberships, issues badges, and answer general inquiries. Processes class registrations, program sign-ups, and facility reservations. Handles patron concerns, de-escalates conflicts professionally, and communicates issues to supervisory staff.
  • Appropriately plans, prepares equipment, assists instructors with class setup for water exercise, swim lessons, and group rentals. Helps maintain safe deck flow by directing patrons to appropriate activity zones. Sets up and removes equipment (kickboards, pull buoys, lane lines, aquatic fitness equipment). Documents bather load to support lifeguard staffing ratios (but does not monitor water). Provides assistance to patrons with disabilities (ADA support). 
  • Performs routine water chemistry checks; records results; adds chemicals under supervision. Adjusts environmental controls such as fans, doors, heaters, and ventilation for comfort and safety. Reports facility maintenance issues (heaters, pumps, filters, HVAC, locker rooms). Assists in maintaining pool deck cleanliness, wiping surfaces, sanitizing frequently touched areas, and managing slip-hazard prevention. Ensures equipment is stored correctly and safely after classes and rentals.
  • Responds to minor first aid incidents and assists lifeguards in emergency response, (crowd management, retrieving equipment, clearing deck, etc.). Guides patrons during emergency evacuations following facility protocols. Maintains thorough knowledge of Aquatic Center policies and safety practices.

  • Completes required in-service training and staff meetings. Performs all additional related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Must be able to stay organized and know how to prioritize the workload. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Competency with computers and Microsoft Office 365 Suite. 
  • Advanced analytical skills. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and physical ability to perform water rescues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including groups with disabilities.
  • Ability to learn water chemistry, aquatic equipment handling, and facility operations.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age with valid identification.
  • One year of experience in recreation, aquatics, customer service, or related field.
  • Must obtain CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire

Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience working in an aquatic, recreation, or fitness facility. 
  • Experience assisting adaptive aquatics or special-needs groups.
  • Bilingual
Must be able to tolerate indoor humid environments; lift up to 50 lbs.; climb steps/ladders; navigate wet surfaces; stand and walk for extended periods; operate cleaning tools; use hand tools; push/pull equipment carts; assist patrons with mobility devices; and respond quickly to facility issues. Must be able to perform CPR/AED.
