What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Intern position at Tarrant County 9-1-1 District?
The Communications Intern reports to and supports the Communications Coordinator in planning, organizing, promoting, and executing Tarrant County 9-1-1 District information dissemination, public education initiatives, supply distribution, appreciation and recognition items, and events. The Communications Intern assists with preparing and issuing news releases, stories, and scripts related to public safety matters, responding to inquiries from the public and news media on a wide range of public safety topics, and supporting the maintenance of the District's website for Public Education activities.A supervisor has the right to change the duties of this position. All functions may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Assists in the development of promotional materials, slogans, and graphic designs digitally and in print.
- Supports the creation and distribution of educational materials, including printed literature, social media platforms, current technologies, and promotional products, to educate the community about 9-1-1 operations and technology.
- Assists with maintaining the District's website and producing public service announcements.
- Responds to public inquiries courteously and professionally.
- Conducts research and assists in writing and editing reports, brochures, and other District communications as assigned.
- Supports inventory management and distribution of a full range of 9-1-1 educational materials targeting audiences.
- Assists with press relations and Public Information functions.
- Provides support for the coordination and delivery of community events, programs, and presentations.
- Performs other related duties consistent with the essential functions of the position, as assigned.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, or related software, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to deliver clear and concise verbal presentations to individuals or groups, fostering an open exchange of ideas.
- Demonstrates strong customer service skills.
- Exhibits advanced communications skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both verbally and in writing, with team members and public members.
