Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) protects life and property by acting as first responder to fires and other related emergency situations; ensures effective operation of all safety, lifesaving and firefighting equipment; ensures personal safety while executing duties.Ensures effective and proper operation of all safety, life saving and firefightingequipment.
- Restocks materials following emergency responses (i.e. medical supplies, Foam, absorbent, etc.).
- Performing tests on fire hydrants.
- Assists in station housekeeping and minor station maintenance.
- Attends Continuing Medical Education classes as mandated by the Office of the Medical Director to maintain County Emergency Medical Services(EMS) certification.
- Attends all other mandated Fire/EMS related training.
- Has thorough knowledge of fire district streets, hydrants and grids
- Maintains good physical condition by participating in physical training programs.
- Develops/reviews Quick Reference Sheets.
- Provides information at fire prevention presentations.
- Provides safety training to the public as directed.
High school diploma or equivalent

- Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
