Role Overview
The firm seeks an experienced Business Litigation Partner to lead complex commercial disputes, strengthen client relationships, and grow a high-performing litigation practice. The ideal candidate combines proven trial and appellate skills with strong client development ability, leadership experience, and a client-first mindset.
Primary Responsibilities
- Originate, manage, and try high-stakes business litigation matters, including contract disputes, shareholder and partnership conflicts, fiduciary duty claims, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, and business torts.
- Represent companies, executives, and investors in state and federal courts, arbitration, and mediation.
- Build and manage a personal book of business; expand existing client and referral relationships; collaborate with the firm’s BD and marketing teams.
- Mentor and supervise associates; foster knowledge sharing, training, and professional development; contribute to partner-level strategy and lateral integration.
- Ensure cases are staffed and budgeted appropriately; maintain best-in-class advocacy and compliance with firm protocols.
- Publish, present, and participate in industry groups and bar associations to elevate the firm’s litigation profile.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; strong academic record
- Active Massachusetts Bar membership (or eligibility to waive in/reciprocity)
- 8 years of significant business litigation experience at an AmLaw, leading regional, or boutique firm
- Demonstrated client origination and retention; portable book of ~$750k (flexible for exceptional candidates)
- Proven first-chair trial and case management experience
- Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary matters, including corporate and regulatory issues
- Excellent communication, leadership, and business judgment
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive partner compensation, typically $300,000 – $1,500,000, commensurate with book and performance
