Range Safety Officer (RSO) – Indoor Shooting Range
Immediate Opening | Part-Time | 24–40 hours per week | $16–$18 per hour
Target World Academy has an immediate opening for a calm, professional, and safety-focused Range Safety Officer.
The RSO monitors live-fire activity, enforces range rules, assists shooters, and has the authority to stop any activity that presents a safety concern. This is not a security-guard position or a sales position.
Responsibilities
- Monitor shooters and active range lanes.
- Enforce firearm-safety and facility rules consistently.
- Conduct and reinforce safety briefings.
- Coach customers on muzzle direction, trigger discipline, safe handling, and cease-fire procedures.
- Provide additional supervision for first-time shooters and rental-firearm users.
- Stop unsafe activity immediately and professionally.
- Document safety incidents and escalate concerns when required.
- Maintain clean and orderly lanes, stalls, and range areas.
- Communicate with the rental desk and management team.
Qualifications
- Prior RSO, firearms-safety, military, law-enforcement, instructional, or comparable experience.
- Strong situational awareness and judgment.
- Ability to enforce rules calmly and without unnecessary confrontation.
- Comfort working with the public in a live-fire environment.
- Dependable attendance and reliable evening and weekend availability.
- NRA, USCCA, or comparable RSO certification is preferred. Candidates willing to obtain certification will be considered.
