A non-profit organization in Jamaica, Queens is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their OPWDD Residential Program located in Jamaica. This full-time daytime role requires collaboration with both nursing and residential teams to ensure high-quality care and regulatory compliance.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Daytime
- Schedule: M-F, no weekends
- Hours: 9:00a to 5:00p (open to 8:00a to 4:00p)
- Setting: ICF, Residential Group Home
Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for:
- Performing ongoing nursing assessments and maintaining regular wellness check-ins with residents
- Coordinating medical appointments and specialty referrals
- Reviewing provider documents, treatment plans, and post-visit summaries; documenting findings as needed
- Supporting medication management, including MAR review and monitoring of storage and documentation
- Maintaining accurate medical records, nursing notes, vitals, and required regulatory documentation
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in New York
- Experience with OPWDD or I/DD populations preferred
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Able to work independently while supporting a team-centered environment
- Calm, supportive, and responsive in a non-hospital setting
- Experience in a relevant field
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
- Certified in basic life support (BLS)
- Competency in managing diverse medical needs
- Effective problem-solving abilities
Desired Skills:
- 2 years of nursing experience
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- BLS certification
- Knowledge of OPWDD regulations
- Strong interpersonal skills
