A recognized healthcare network in New York is actively seeking an experienced, licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit as a Nurse Manager.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length:13 weeks
- Schedule: Monday-Friday
- Hours: 8am to 4:30pm (37.5 hours)
Responsibilities:
- Oversees day‑to‑day operations of the Acute Psychiatric Nursing Unit
- Supervises nursing staff, including scheduling, coverage, coaching, and performance oversight
- Ensures compliance with WMCHealth policies, NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) regulations, and Joint Commission standards
- Coordinates patient flow and unit resources to maintain safety and quality of care
- Serves as a point of escalation for clinical, staffing, or operational issues during assigned hours
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatry, social work, and case management
- Monitors patient care quality, incident reporting, and risk management activities
- Participates in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and staff education as needed
Qualifications:
- 4 years of Nursing experience in a Hospital and/or Healthcare setting
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Active NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification
- Experience with Mental Health Nursing
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Psychiatric and/or Crisis‑Intervention certifications
