Summary: This Graduate Assistant Teaching assist department chairperson, faculty members, or other professional staff members in college or university by performing teaching or teaching-related duties. Duties and Responsibilities: Meet with supervisors to discuss students' grades, and to complete required grade-related paperwork. Notify instructors of errors or problems with assignments. Order or obtain materials needed for classes. Prepare and proctor examinations. Evaluate and grade examinations, assignments, and papers, and record grades. Return assignments to students in accordance with established deadlines. Schedule and maintain regular office hours to meet with students. Develop teaching materials such as syllabi, visual aids, answer keys, supplementary notes, and course websites. Lead discussion sections, tutorials, and laboratory sections.. Teach undergraduate level courses. Copy and distribute classroom materials. Attend lectures given by the instructor whom they are assisting All positions are security-sensitive. May work up to 19 hours per week while classes are in session May work full-time during breaks and summer if enrolled for the upcoming fall Must not work during scheduled class times Open to all actively enrolled students regardless of financial aid status Students do not need to be enrolled during summer if they plan to return in the fall Work-study positions are need-based jobs funded through federal or state financial aid programs and allow students to earn money to help pay for educational expenses. Must be awarded federal or state work-study through Financial Aid May work up to 19 hours per week during the semester May work full-time during breaks and summer if returning in the fall Must not work during scheduled class times Positions are limited to the amount awarded and must follow program guidelines Graduate assistantships offer opportunities to teach, conduct research, or assist in academic departments while continuing your graduate education.
