What are the responsibilities and job description for the Motion Graphics Designer position at Tampa Bay Lightning?
The Motion Graphic Designer will assist in the graphic animation and multi-media content production for VSG Productions, Lightning Vision Productions, and internal and external Benchmark International Arena Displays. This includes all Tampa Bay Lightning home games, official team productions, assorted Vinik Sports Group properties, and occasional third-party event requests for these services.
- Creation, editing and production of most Lightning Vision graphic animations as directed – either as fully inclusive features and or as elements to be incorporated by other editors/producers.
- Major focus is the design and creation of much of the animated content showcased on Lightning Vision center hung display, Daktronics system LED displays; external Digital Signage, Concourse Video Walls and multi-monitor displays; IPTV system, Projection Systems, Plaza Projector, internal TV Channels and digital/streamed team-branded content and productions.
- Also design and animate graphics for VSG organizational business entities, as requested.
- Creatively collaborate with Marketing on animation, messaging, graphic “look and feel” of campaign consistency.
- Collaborate with Lightning Vision Video team to incorporate traditional video elements (videography, editing, etc.) into above work and/or produce graphic work for video crew to incorporate into the production of video features and other video projects.

- This role will work every home Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game but is not required to stay through the entire game
- This role may also need to work added events throughout the season
- College education, equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, plus a minimum of one (1) year work experience as a graphic designer/animator.
- Must have animation creation experience. Creative and artistic skills for design and layout. Able to build organized templates and clean projects that can be updated easily.
- Solid knowledge and a minimum of 2 years’ experience with the following software: After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro (preferred) editing software.
- Basic growth-oriented knowledge of 3-D software a plus (Cinema 4D, Maya, etc.)
- Basic previous admin experience; intermediate skills in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive work relationships with co-workers, managers and executives.
- Commitment to work long-hour stretches – especially during periods of heavy pre-production and with short-turnaround projects.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in office and arena environment that can be exciting, loud and distracting.
- Ability to work extended hours including late nights, holidays, and weekends as needed

- Ability to work prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift/carry/move up to 25lbs.
- Ability to work in cold/hot indoors and outdoors temperatures.
- Ability to work in areas that can become crowded with equipment and/or people.
- Ability to work comfortably around special effects including, but not limited to haze, strobe lights, laser, etc.
