TAMKO is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician at our Tuscaloosa, Alabama manufacturing facility. The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician will perform instrumentation activities pertaining to automation, reliability standards, inspection, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Pay Range $31.11/hr to $47.78/hr

- Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots a wide variety of instrumentation and electrical equipment including sensors, actuators, pneumatic controls, servo drives, electric motors, process transmitters, and process switches.
- Troubleshoots and modifies PLC programs and HMI configurations to support production operations and resolve process control issues.
- Diagnoses and repairs motor control systems including variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, and associated equipment.
- Maintains and services industrial safety systems, including burner management systems, boilers, and associated safety interlocks to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Selects, installs, configures, and calibrates instruments and control devices to meet process requirements and applicable standards.
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance, calibrations, and functional testing of automation systems, instrumentation, and control equipment.
- Red-lines and updates electrical and instrumentation drawings to reflect as-built conditions; maintains accurate documentation of system changes.
- Develops and updates standard work plans and procedures for electrical and instrumentation work.
- Reads and interprets electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control diagrams for troubleshooting and project work.
Requirements
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
- Two to three years related experience and/or training.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to position himself/herself to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or or maintain heavy plant equipment. This may require climbing stairs/ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting and/or stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and may occasionally lift or move heavier objects with assistance.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, where dust and fumes could be present in the air, with or in proximity to chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in a loud environment. The employee must have the ability to understand and mitigate these and other risks, including by following all prescribed safety rules, and must have the ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, if necessary.
