What are the responsibilities and job description for the (Summer Seasonal) Golf Course Intern position at Tamarack Resort?
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Intern to maintain the beauty and functionality of Osprey Meadows Golf course. Osprey Meadows is a Robert Trent Jones ll designed championship golf course that overlooks cascade lake while tucked in the West Mountain wilderness. The ideal candidate will have a passion for landscaping and a strong understanding of Golf Course Maintenance practices. This role involves working with various tools and equipment to ensure that Turf health, lawns, Bunkers and landscapes are well-kept and thriving.
Interns will work closely with the superintendent, assistant superintendents, mechanic, and irrigation technician to learn all aspects of the turf management department, with the end goal of preparing you to take the next step to assistant superintendent, and eventually superintendent. Interns will be given the opportunity to manage the crew for a week during the summer to gain experience in the role of an assistant. We welcome all levels of experience and education.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Learn culture and daily operations, so our team can provide the best playing conditions for the members on a daily basis.
Hands on with fertilizer, pesticide applications, water management, course set up and daily maintenance.
Keeps an up-to-date knowledge of chemicals/fertilizers that are being applied.
Ensures proper calibration of all spraying/fertilizer equipment.
Maintain log of applications and all related reports.
Learn irrigation controls and hand watering.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Valid driver's license
EDUCATION
Must be enrolled in Turfgrass Managment Institution or of equal relevance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
Must be regularly available and willing to work at least 8 hours per day, at least 40 hours per week.
Must be available and willing to work weekends and holidays.
Requires various physical activities throughout the day.
Works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.
Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
Requires use of various fertilizers and chemicals associated with Golf Course Maintenance.
Includes lifting, pushing, and/or pulling up to 80 pounds.
Requires walking more than 5 miles a day.
