What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Cook – Food Production position at Tamarack Holdings?

Food for Thought is looking for an Assistant Cook to support daily food production and help keep operations running smoothly. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to learn different areas of production and grow your skills.
What You'll Do
• Prepare, measure, weigh, and organize ingredients for production
• Assist with cooking, mixing, batching, and recipe preparation
• Set up, clean, and maintain production equipment
• Support packaging, production lines, and material handling as needed
• Complete production records accurately and in real time
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
• Help with cleaning, organization, and end-of-day production readiness
• Work with team members across production to meet daily goals
What We're Looking For
• Food production, commercial kitchen, manufacturing, or related experience preferred
• Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and instructions accurately
• Basic math skills for measuring and weighing ingredients
• Strong attention to detail and food safety practices
• Dependable attendance and a team-first attitude
• Willingness to learn new tasks and support different production areas
• Better Process Control School (BPCS) certification preferred, or willingness to obtain it
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for most of the workday
• Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting up to 60 pounds
• Ability to work in a production environment with varying temperatures and noise levels
• Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout the facility
