IT Project Manager

Talon Hiring Solutions has a client in the Birmingham, AL area that is looking for a contract, possible contract to hire, IT Project Manager who thrives in a collaborative environment. In this role, you'll partner with business and IT teams to plan, execute, and deliver projects on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic objectives.

What You'll Do

• Manage multiple cross-functional IT projects from initiation through implementation.
• Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, budgets, resource plans, and project documentation.
• Track and manage project risks, issues, actions, and decisions (RAID) while driving timely resolution.
• Facilitate project meetings, requirements gathering sessions, status updates, and decision-making workshops.
• Partner with business stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, requirements, and success metrics.
• Coordinate efforts across business teams, IT, vendors, and third-party partners.
• Monitor project progress and communicate status, milestones, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership.
• Support testing, user acceptance, go-live planning, cutover activities, and post-implementation stabilization.
• Assist with change management by coordinating communications, training, and user adoption activities.
• Document business processes, identify improvement opportunities, and help translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Ensure projects meet quality standards, timelines, and business objectives.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of project management experience, including at least one year leading complex IT initiatives.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices.
• Experience managing project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and stakeholder communications.
• Excellent facilitation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project (or similar project management software), Teams, SharePoint, Visio (or comparable process mapping tools), and Microsoft Copilot.
