Accounting and Real Estate Specialist

Position Summary

Talon Property Management is seeking an experienced Accounting & Real Estate Specialist to support accounting and financial operations for a growing multifamily real estate portfolio.

This role will focus on day-to-day property accounting, reconciliations, month-end close support, tenant ledger research, financial reporting, and other real estate accounting needs. The ideal candidate has prior property management or real estate accounting experience, is highly organized, and can independently research and resolve accounting discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Process and code vendor invoices.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile company and property credit cards.
• Research tenant ledger and accounts receivable discrepancies.
• Assist with move-out accounting and security deposit reconciliations.
• Review general ledger activity and investigate unusual balances.
• Prepare month-end schedules and supporting workpapers.
• Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support monthly financial reporting and budget-to-actual variance analysis.
• Research accounting issues and prepare necessary corrections.
• Maintain organized supporting documentation.
• Assist with owner and investor reporting as needed.
• Support additional accounting and real estate projects as the portfolio grows.
• Assist with vendor onboarding, W-9s, insurance documentation, contract tracking, and vendor records.
• Assist with utility account setup, transfers, research, and reconciliation during property acquisitions, dispositions, and management transitions.
• Support property management system administration and data cleanup, including tenant ledger, charge, vendor, and property-level accounting research.
• Assist with portfolio transitions, property onboarding, and other special projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve or standardize accounting and administrative processes across the portfolio.Qualifications
• 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management, multifamily, or real estate.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and bank reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines.
• Ability to independently research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with property management accounting software is preferred.
