About the Role:
The Quality Control Specialist, also referred to as a Raw Material Specialist or Sampling Specialist, ensures incoming materials meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in quality assurance, inspection, and compliance processes within manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain operations. The position focuses on raw material testing, sample collection, documentation, and adherence to quality control procedures to maintain product integrity and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Perform incoming raw material inspection and quality control testing to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
- Collect, label, and manage material samples for laboratory testing and analysis
- Execute sampling procedures following SOPs, GMP, and quality assurance protocols
- Document inspection results, maintain accurate quality records, and update quality management systems
- Identify non-conforming materials, initiate corrective actions, and support root cause analysis
- Collaborate with suppliers, procurement, and production teams to resolve quality issues
- Monitor inventory quality status and ensure proper storage and handling of raw materials
- Support internal audits, compliance checks, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Science, Food Science, Chemistry, or related field
- Experience in quality control, raw material inspection, or sampling in a manufacturing or logistics environment
- Knowledge of quality systems such as GMP, GFSI, BRC, SQF, HACCP,UL,NSF, ISO standards, or quality management systems
- Familiarity with sampling techniques, inspection tools, and testing procedures
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or inconsistencies
- Proficiency in documentation, data entry, and quality reporting systems
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain compliance requirements
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and quality tracking software and be familiar with Lab portal,
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in quality assurance, chemistry, biology, or related technical field
- Experience with laboratory testing, material analysis, or analytical equipment
- Certification in PCQI, HACCP Food Defense, Six Sigma or CQI
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards in manufacturing or logistics industries
- Experience working with supplier quality management and vendor audits
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes
