About the Role:

The Maintenance Manager, also commonly searched as Industrial Maintenance Manager, Plant Maintenance Manager, Maintenance and Reliability Manager, and Manufacturing Maintenance Manager, leads maintenance and reliability activities within an industrial manufacturing facility in the Birmingham, Alabama area. This position is responsible for equipment uptime, preventive and predictive maintenance, skilled trades leadership, troubleshooting, spare parts management, capital improvements, and continuous improvement of plant equipment and infrastructure.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead plant maintenance operations and supervise maintenance technicians, electricians, mechanics, and outside contractors.
  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs that maximize equipment reliability and production uptime.
  • Prioritize maintenance work orders, emergency repairs, shutdown activities, planned maintenance, and equipment improvement projects.
  • Diagnose recurring mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls, and facility equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Establish and monitor equipment reliability metrics including downtime, mean time between failures, maintenance cost, preventive maintenance completion, and equipment availability.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production, engineering, safety, quality, and operations leadership.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, contractor services, repair expenses, and equipment replacement recommendations.
  • Support installation, commissioning, relocation, modification, and improvement of manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with OSHA, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, machine guarding, confined space, and applicable environmental requirements.
  • Develop maintenance employees through technical training, cross-training, performance management, and succession planning.


Qualifications:

  • Significant industrial maintenance experience within manufacturing, heavy industry, metals, machining, fabrication, or a related production environment.
  • Previous maintenance leadership experience supervising technicians or skilled trades employees.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge involving industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems, CMMS.
  • Knowledge of motors, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, industrial electrical systems, and production machinery.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze equipment failures and implement root cause corrective actions.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets, vendors, contractors, spare parts, and equipment projects.
  • Strong leadership, planning, prioritization, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, or condition monitoring.
  • PLC, controls, automation, variable frequency drive, or industrial electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Lean manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience supporting high-temperature, foundry, metal processing, machining, or heavy industrial equipment.

Salary : $95,000 - $125,000
