Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Regional Medical Records Director to oversee medical records operations across our nine skilled nursing facilities. This leadership role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining accurate, secure, and efficient health information systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support Medical Records departments across all 9 facilities
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all regulatory requirements
- Conduct routine audits of medical records for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for medical records management
- Train and mentor facility-level Medical Records staff
- Collaborate with facility administrators and clinical teams to ensure proper documentation practices
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation workflows
- Prepare for and assist during state and federal surveys
- Monitor and improve processes related to record retention, release of information, and confidentiality
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in medical records management, preferably in skilled nursing or long-term care
- Previous regional or multi-site oversight experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance regulations
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- RHIT or RHIA certification preferred
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to travel between facilities within the Los Angeles area
