What are the responsibilities and job description for the Career Development Specialist position at Tallahassee State College?
Tallahassee State College is thrilled to announce a full-time grant-funded opening for the position of Career Development Specialist with DOC – Walton Correctional Institution.
Career Development Specialists will facilitate instruction of the Compass 180 program, which refers to the Department's comprehensive 100-Hour Transition Skills Education program that covers career exploration and identification, job readiness, and life management skills for inmates.
The services to be provided include, but are not limited to:
- Delivery of the 100-Hour Transition Skills Program curriculum
- Delivery of other programs as determined by the Department
- Administration and interpretation of assessments
- Maintaining and providing documentation of services delivered
- Reporting monthly attendance, program enrollments, and completions on the Department's approved form, DC5-149 "Correctional Daily Attendance Roster"
- Providing information pertaining to pre-release connections of community providers and employers for inmate release planning services to facility release officer's
- Assisting the Pre-Release Employment Navigators with hiring events, mock interviews, pre-release job search, recruitment, and readiness portfolio development through face-to-face and technology-based interactions.

Career Development Specialist Qualifications:
- An Associate degree from an accredited college or university and one year of related work experience or a high school diploma and two (2) years of professional experience in the workforce development, social services, corrections or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Valid Florida Driver's License
