Title: Senior Associate-Vice President, Capital Markets
Location: Hybrid, US (preference for Northeast Corridor)
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
SUMMARY
Talisman have been retained by a leading C&I solar developer (‘Client’) to assist them with a key hire in their growing US business. Client is a leading distributed energy platform focused on acquiring, developing, and operating commercial and industrial (C&I) solar and storage assets across the United States. Backed by institutional capital, Client is accelerating the energy transition through data-driven decision-making, innovative structuring, and operational rigor.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate/Vice President of Capital Markets to lead the company’s capital formation and financial structuring efforts. This role directly supports the structuring, negotiating, and execution of financing solutions across a portfolio of distributed generation solar and battery storage projects. This key member will work closely with the CEO and leadership teams to craft the financial narrative and interface directly with investors, lenders, and board members. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in financial diligence, modeling, equity structuring, tax equity investments, and excellent capabilities in creating clear, credible materials to present financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Stakeholder & Board Engagement
- Prepare and present clear, board-ready materials that articulate financial performance, capital needs, and strategic direction.
- Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for executive stakeholders and financing partners.
Strategic Planning and Capital Markets
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning initiatives.
- Lead execution of capital raises.
- Develop optimal structures to finance a growing portfolio of distributed energy projects.
Corporate Development
- Structure and negotiate commercial relationships with business partners.
- M&A and financing execution, ensuring thorough analysis and risk mitigation.
- Own financial due diligence across all investment opportunities.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of assumptions in all financial models.
Modeling & Valuation
- Build, refine, and maintain platform-level financial models to support fundraising and strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure technical and commercial inputs are accurately reflected in models.
Cross-functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Development, Legal, Asset Management, and Finance teams to consolidate inputs into investor-ready materials.
- Serve as internal project manager for all capital markets processes, ensuring alignment and execution across teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience in capital markets, project finance, investment banking, or private equity in the renewable energy or infrastructure sectors.
- Deep expertise in financial modeling, deal structuring, and investor-facing communications.
- Proven track record of executing tax equity, project equity, or similar structured finance transactions.
- Experience in distributed generation or C&I solar is preferred, but candidates from utility-scale or broader infra backgrounds will be considered.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related discipline required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, industry standards and regulations.
- Deep knowledge of civil, electrical, utility interconnection, and emerging regulatory and policy developments impacting DG solar.
- Experience in community solar, battery storage, and Virtual Power Plants (VPPs).
POSITION TYPE/LOCATION
The candidate is ideally located in the New York City area but can be flexible to partially remote role. This role will involve in-person team meetings in New York and business-related travel as needed (10-20%).
COMPENSATION
$175K – $200K base salary bonus equity (based on seniority, experience, and location)
