Senior Estimator – Multi-Family Construction
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Full-Time: $100 000- $120 000, willing to consider more for the right candidate | Growth Opportunity
Are you an experienced construction estimator with a passion for multi-family projects and a talent for building accurate, strategic budgets? We’re looking for a Senior Estimator to join our growing team and help shape successful developments from the ground up.
In this role, you’ll lead the preconstruction process, from conceptual estimating to bid packaging, ensuring that projects are thoroughly planned, competitively priced, and set up for success. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, clients, and trade partners to deliver exceptional results in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the estimating process for assigned projects, preparing detailed cost estimates at all design phases
- Develop cost models and pricing strategies to support informed decision-making
- Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and vendor bids
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and executives to align estimates with project goals
- Identify risks and coordinate preconstruction reviews with leadership
- Assemble bid packages and preconstruction presentations for clients
- Support the transition from preconstruction to construction by sharing insights and lessons learned
- Stay current on market trends, costs, and innovations in materials and construction methods
- Help grow our network of qualified subcontractors and suppliers
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to ongoing process improvements
What We’re Looking For:
- 5 years of experience in commercial or multifamily construction estimating
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, bidding, scheduling, and construction practices
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Project; familiarity with estimating software like PlanSwift, SmartBid, or AutoDesk Takeoff is a plus
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines
