Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Division of Ophthalmology, leading the division’s clinical, academic, and research growth.
- Provide medical oversight and clinical supervision, ensuring exceptional health care delivery systems and adherence to all quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and oversee all division physicians, advanced practice providers, and medical staff, fostering a culture of professionalism and continuous development.
- Participate in departmental and interdepartmental collaboration, mentoring, coaching, and educational initiatives for physicians, residents, and fellows.
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages with a wide range of medical and surgical ophthalmologic disorders using evidence-based clinical practice.
- Plan, monitor, and optimize staffing activities, supporting diversity, continuing education initiatives, and academic appointments in alignment with institutional goals.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in medical record-keeping, billing, and coding procedures across the division.
- Maintain fiscal responsibility and actively contribute to hospital administrative and clinical committees as assigned.
Must-Have Skills:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology.
- Pediatric experience
- 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in an academic or large clinical environment.
- Outstanding track record as a clinician, educator, investigator, and administrator in an academic medical center.
- Active Connecticut medical license and unrestricted D.E.A. certificate.
