Laboratory Technician – EMC Testing

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support a high-volume EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) testing laboratory in Northbrook, IL. This role plays a key part in ensuring electronic products meet required safety and regulatory standards through accurate testing, documentation, and lab support activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with EMC testing exposure or a background in Electrical Engineering who is looking to gain or expand hands-on laboratory experience in a structured, collaborative technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, label, organize, and properly store incoming test samples and materials
- Execute EMC testing procedures in accordance with established laboratory protocols
- Accurately document test results and maintain detailed reporting records
- Support data collection, analysis, and preparation of test summaries
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and tracking of all laboratory samples
- Maintain laboratory equipment, including cleaning, calibration, and routine upkeep
- Log equipment usage and maintenance activities in accordance with lab standards
- Follow all safety guidelines and regulatory compliance requirements
- Collaborate with engineers and lab staff to support testing workflows and continuous improvement initiatives
- Stay current on laboratory procedures, tools, and testing best practices
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical/scientific field required
- 1 year of EMC testing or laboratory technician experience preferred
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment, testing methods, and safety protocols
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow structured procedures precisely
- Ability to accurately document, organize, and communicate technical results
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
Compensation
- $24.50 – $27.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Additional Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check and any required compliance screenings
