Job Summary
The Remote Paralegal will assist attorneys with immigration and civil litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have strong experience drafting legal documents, a solid understanding of procedural rules, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review legal documents, including motions, pleadings, affidavits, and correspondence.
- Assist with immigration filings (e.g., petitions, applications, and supporting documentation).
- Support civil litigation matters, including discovery, case management, and trial preparation.
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state rules of procedure and court deadlines.
- Organize and maintain electronic case files and document management systems.
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
- Assist with e-filing in federal and state courts.
- Manage calendars and track litigation deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- Paralegal certification (preferred but not mandatory).
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in immigration and civil litigation.
- Demonstrated experience drafting motions and pleadings.
- Strong knowledge of Federal and State Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Experience with immigration forms and processes (e.g., USCIS filings).
- Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Familiarity with e-filing systems such as PACER and state court portals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a remote law firm.
- Bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish) are a plus.
- Familiarity with case management software such as Clio, MyCase, or PracticePanther.
