Education & Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
- Minimum 1-2 years of labor and delivery or obstetric nursing experience (Preferred)
- Current RN license in state of practice (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (Required)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (Preferred)
- Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) certification (Preferred)
- Monitors maternal vital signs and fetal heart rate patterns throughout labor.
- Administers medications, including oxytocin and pain management, per physician orders.
- Assists with vaginal deliveries and provides support during cesarean sections.
- Provides immediate newborn assessment and care following delivery.
- Educates patients and families on labor progress, pain management, and postpartum recovery.
- Recognizes and responds to obstetric emergencies such as hemorrhage or fetal distress.
