Computed Tomography Technologist
Job Summary
Operates computed tomography equipment to produce diagnostic cross-sectional images of patients for physician interpretation. Positions patients, selects appropriate protocols and technical factors, and administers contrast media in accordance with department policy. Applies radiation safety principles to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
Education & Experience
• Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program: Required
• Computed Tomography imaging experience: Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Required
• State radiologic technologist licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
Key Responsibilities
• Perform computed tomography examinations on inpatients, outpatients and emergency patients.
• Verify patient identity and review each requisition for consistency with the clinical indication.
• Position patients and select protocols and technical factors to obtain diagnostic-quality images.
• Prepare and administer contrast media and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
• Apply ALARA principles and radiation safety practices to minimize exposure.
• Transfer images to PACS, maintain accurate records and perform routine equipment quality checks.
Salary : $78 - $84
