A well-established precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead operations at a high-volume CNC machining facility. This individual will be responsible for driving operational excellence, increasing throughput, improving efficiency, developing leadership teams, and supporting continued business growth. The facility consists of approximately 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space, over 50 CNC machines, and a workforce of approximately 85 employees. This role is ideal for a hands-on manufacturing leader with a proven track record of scaling machining operations, improving productivity, and building high-performing teams in a CNC manufacturing environment.
About the Role
The Plant Manager will lead all day-to-day manufacturing operations across machining, production, maintenance, quality, and shipping functions. We are seeking a transformational manufacturing leader who has successfully taken a machining operation to the next level. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of operational discipline, strategic thinking, and hands-on leadership to help drive continued growth and performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead all day-to-day manufacturing operations across machining, production, maintenance, quality, and shipping functions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, safety, quality, and profitability
- Develop and execute strategies to increase plant capacity and support future growth objectives
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to throughput, scrap, OEE, on-time delivery, and labor utilization
- Partner with leadership to develop operational plans that align with business goals
- Build, mentor, and develop supervisors, managers, and production teams
- Improve workflow, scheduling, and resource allocation to maximize machine utilization
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence
- Support capital equipment planning, facility improvements, and process optimization initiatives
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- 10 years of manufacturing leadership experience within a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment
- Previous Plant Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager, Director of Operations, or equivalent leadership experience
- Demonstrated success growing and scaling machining operations
- Experience overseeing facilities with significant CNC machining capacity
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational metrics
- Proven ability to lead teams of 50 employees in a manufacturing environment
- Experience improving productivity, machine utilization, and overall plant performance
- Strong financial and business acumen with responsibility for operational budgets and performance
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills
Preferred Skills
- Multi-spindle, Swiss machining, turning, milling, or high-volume precision machining environments
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certifications
- Experience supporting facility expansions, acquisitions, or significant growth initiatives
