What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at TalentConnect?
Our client, a growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This role offers the opportunity to partner closely with executive leadership to shape and guide financial strategy, reporting, and internal controls.
This is a key position responsible for overseeing all aspects of finance, including reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and compliance. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting knowledge, experience managing a team, and a track record of implementing process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management
- Direct and oversee daily operations of the accounting department
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Mentor and manage the accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and performance
- Lead financial process improvement and lean initiatives across the department
Financial Operations
- Oversee all accounting transactions and ensure timely accounts payable, receivable, and debt payments
- Maintain the chart of accounts and general ledger integrity
- Supervise payroll processing and bank reconciliations
- Manage accounting for subsidiary entities
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
- Work closely with leadership on budgets, forecasts, and financial strategy
- Support external audits and provide financial analysis for pricing, investments, and contracts
- Monitor financial KPIs and support continuous improvement in reporting processes
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax and regulatory filings
- Coordinate the annual audit and maintain relationships with external auditors
- Maintain proper documentation and internal reporting calendars
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA or CMA preferred
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Experience with ERP systems; mid-size ERP system experience a plus
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to lead and develop staff, manage deadlines, and work independently
- Experience with payroll processing preferred
The compensation for this position ranges from $150,000.00 - $200,000.00. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
