Job Title: Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist
Location: 1000 Johnson Ferry Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30342
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Day Shift – 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (5x8s, 40 hours/week)
Important Notes
- No local candidates within 50 miles
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in the specialty required
- Cerner experience required
- Facility will only consider Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTg) and Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS)
- Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) will not be considered
Required Certifications
One of the following certifications is required:
- ASCP
- AMT
- AAB
Preferred Experience
- Experience using Sysmex and CellaVision laboratory systems
- Previous experience in a high-volume hospital laboratory (600 beds preferred)
- Strong hematology and differential skills, including experience with neonatal patient populations
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment with minimal training
Job Summary
The Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist performs complex laboratory testing and analysis to support patient diagnosis and treatment. The ideal candidate will have experience in a large acute-care hospital setting and be proficient in hematology workflows, differential interpretation, and advanced specimen evaluation.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist experience
- Proficient with Sysmex and CellaVision systems
- Experience performing accurate manual and automated differentials
- Familiarity with neonatal specimens and hematology testing
- Strong understanding of abnormal cell morphology and specimen evaluation
- Experience handling complex laboratory specimens, including:
- Turbid samples
- Platelet clumps
- Abnormal cell findings
- Ability to maintain accuracy and efficiency in a high-volume laboratory environment
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has recent experience in a large hospital laboratory, is comfortable managing a busy workload, and can quickly integrate into the department with minimal orientation or training. Experience with complex hematology specimens and strong differential interpretation skills are essential for success in this role.
