Job Summary
Seeking an experienced IT Mainframe Operator with 5 years of experience supporting IBM mainframe environments. The role involves monitoring system consoles, performing system startups/shutdowns, managing restart operations, and ensuring smooth execution of production workloads in a 24/7 enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor IBM mainframe systems and respond to alerts/issues
- Perform system and subsystem startup/shutdown (restart operations)
- Support transaction processing, database, and OS environments
- Coordinate with system programmers and production control teams
- Maintain detailed logs and ticketing documentation
- Support automation and system monitoring tools
Required Skills
- IBM Mainframe, z/OS
- CICS, IMS (DB/DC), DB2, ADABAS
- JCL, JES2, CONTROL-M
- SMP/E, ACF2, VTAM, TCP/IP
- ASSEMBLER / COBOL / REXX
- Linux, Unix, Windows Servers
- ITM System Monitoring (or similar)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Experience Required
- 5 years as Mainframe Operator
- 2 years on IBM p-Series / z-Series
- Experience with automation and ticketing systems
- 2 years working with Windows & Linux servers
Education
Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent experience
Additional Requirements
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to work Morning, Swing, or Graveyard shifts
- Hybrid schedule after 4-8 weeks of onsite training
