A rapidly growing organization within the commercial construction and building materials industry is seeking a Purchasing Analyst to join its Supply Chain team. This role will be instrumental in analyzing purchasing trends, forecasting inventory needs, supporting vendor negotiations, and identifying opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and supply chain performance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Analyze purchasing trends, inventory levels, sales forecasts, and supplier performance to support strategic buying decisions
- Develop purchasing recommendations based on demand planning, inventory optimization, and business forecasts
- Source and procure commercial construction materials, products, and supplies while balancing cost, quality, and availability
- Evaluate purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve inventory turns, and maximize gross margin
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with vendors and suppliers while supporting contract negotiations, pricing, freight terms, and rebate programs
- Monitor inventory replenishment, purchase orders, supplier lead times, and product availability to ensure uninterrupted operations
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, Warehouse, and Finance teams to align purchasing strategies with customer demand and business objectives
- Analyze backorders, direct-ship activity, and special-order inventory to improve fulfillment performance
- Resolve supplier, pricing, quality, delivery, and invoice discrepancies while identifying process improvement opportunities
- Prepare reports and present purchasing metrics, inventory performance, and supplier analytics to support operational decision-making
- Continuously evaluate market trends, supplier performance, and new product opportunities to strengthen the overall supply chain
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 2 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or purchasing analyst experience within commercial construction, building materials, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or a related industry
- Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting purchasing, inventory, and forecasting data
- Experience with inventory planning, demand forecasting, and purchasing analysis
- Proven ability to negotiate supplier pricing and manage vendor relationships
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large datasets and generate meaningful business insights
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset and strong attention to detail
