Financial Operations Specialist
Location: Fort Mill, SC (Hybrid - Mon-Wed onsite)
Duration: 6 Month Contract (High Potential for Extension/Conversion)
Pay Rate: $20-$22/hour
A leading financial services organization is seeking a Financial Operations Specialist to support key compensation processing and advisor-facing operations. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate commission processing, resolving complex inquiries, and partnering across teams to enhance operational efficiency and the overall advisor experience.
Key Responsibilities- Process compensation and commission-related transactions for new and existing advisors with a high level of accuracy
- Support backlog clean-up efforts and resolve complex financial and compensation-related issues
- Field inbound calls and emails, asking thoughtful questions to fully understand and resolve inquiries
- Research, analyze, and interpret financial data to support accurate commission payouts
- Manage cases from intake through resolution, ensuring timely follow-up and clear communication
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including Registration, Service, QA, Transitions, and Business Consulting
- Initiate outbound communication with third-party partners (carriers, sponsors, etc.) to resolve discrepancies
- Assist with onboarding new advisor offices and contribute to process improvement initiatives
- Educate advisors and internal stakeholders on compensation structures, reporting tools, and system usage
- Proactively communicate regarding time-sensitive activities such as billing events and tax-related items
- 2-3 years of experience in financial services, accounting, operations, or a related field
- Strong Excel skills, including experience with VLOOKUP
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to ask questions and drive clarity
- Self-starter who can work independently while contributing to a team environment
- Experience with Pivot Tables and advanced Excel functionality
- Familiarity with financial systems such as Oracle, Beta, or similar platforms
- Exposure to tools such as Salesforce or Visio
- Prior experience with commissions processing or financial accounting
- Financial industry certifications (e.g., SIE)
- Hybrid schedule: onsite Monday-Wednesday in Fort Mill, SC
- Excel and typing assessments required during the interview process
- Strong potential for extension or long-term opportunity based on performance
