Job Title: Local CDL-A Driver
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Shift: 1st
Pay: Up to $23/hr.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable CDL-A Driver to safely transport materials while supporting shipping and receiving operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring on-time deliveries, proper load securement, and maintaining quality and safety standards throughout the transportation process.
Responsibilities:
- Operate up to a six-axle truck in compliance with all state and interstate regulations, including weight limits, routing, trip logs, and vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials using overhead cranes and/or forklifts as needed.
- Ensure all loads are properly secured and tied down prior to transport.
- Deliver products safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Occasionally return skids and customer rejects as required.
- Support the shipping and receiving team when needed.
- Follow established work instructions related to Kanban pull systems.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S standards.
- Understand and adhere to all job-related Quality System policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedules and time-off policies.
Qualifications:
- Valid CDL-A license with current Department of Transportation medical card.
- Ability to safely operate up to a six-axle commercial vehicle in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Strong understanding of load securement, tie-down procedures, and safe material handling.
- Experience assisting with loading and unloading using overhead cranes and/or forklifts (Hi-Lo).
- Commitment to safety, quality standards, and on-time delivery performance.
- Ability to follow work instructions, Kanban pull systems, and quality system procedures.
- Reliable attendance with the ability to work assigned schedules consistently.
- Basic mechanical awareness and responsibility for keeping equipment clean and in proper working order.
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions, delivery paperwork, and shipping documentation.
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
