Job Responsibilities:
- Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, prepares medications according to physician orders. This includes filling, packaging, distributing, labeling, and scanning medications. Weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients using proper equipment and technique. Ability to sign in, load, and refill automated dispensing machines. Basic inventory of CII safe.
- Utilizes aseptic technique in the IV room to prepare and label intravenous admixtures and other sterile products. Fills syringes and reconstitutes small volume injectable pharmaceuticals for subsequent check and dispensing by a pharmacist. Maintains equipment according to procedure, such as cleaning the laminar air flow hood.
- For staff trained in the Outpatient RX area: Selects prescription items for customers, rings the register, and completes Ohio State Board requirements with each sale.
- Uses technology in the department, including patient information lookup in Epic, handling In-Basket RX messages for unit dose medications, compounding repackaging, and printing labels.
- Transports medications from the pharmacy to areas outside the pharmacy, including medication cart delivery, IV run, and unit dose run, ensuring timely and correct delivery to the appropriate area.
- Assists the Pharmacist in daily activities, including answering telephones, receiving and relaying messages, re-ordering drugs and supplies, rotating stock, checking expiration dates, and maintaining assigned areas.
- Performs receptionist duties at the RX window, distributing medications and orders, filling out appropriate paperwork, directing phone calls, and assisting with issues.
- Maintains a safe environment according to policy and procedure, keeping the department neat, clean, and orderly, and follows departmental and hospital safety policies.
- Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Pharmacy, Assistant Director, Operations Coordinator, Technician Supervisor, and Pharmacists.
- Required Skills & Experience: Responsible for handling cash related to selling prescriptions or other pharmacy items.
- Preferred Skills & Experience: Pharmacy technician experience preferred.
- Required Education: High school diploma or GED.

- Required Certifications & Licensure: The person has passed an examination approved by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, PTCB/CPhT.
