In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert for qualified retirement plans, providing technical guidance, ensuring compliance, and supporting both internal teams and external clients. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone with strong 401(k) administration experience who enjoys balancing technical expertise with relationship management.
What You'll Do
As a Retirement Plan Consultant, you will:
- Serve as the subject matter expert on complex retirement plan administration and compliance matters.
- Perform quality control reviews for a portfolio of up to 200 small and mid-sized retirement plans.
- Prepare and review year-end compliance projects for assigned plans.
- Complete and review compliance testing, trust accounting, eligibility, and contribution calculations.
- Prepare and review Form 5500 filings, including plans requiring audits.
- Research and resolve complex ERISA and retirement plan compliance questions.
- Review escalated participant distributions and plan transactions.
- Assist with specialized projects, including missed deferral calculations and plan corrections.
- Partner with Client Service Managers, Plan Sponsors, and Plan Administrators to resolve technical issues and ensure timely project completion.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve departmental processes and operational efficiencies.
- Support departmental and company performance goals while delivering exceptional client service.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of retirement plan administration experience.
- Thorough understanding of 401(k) and qualified retirement plan compliance.
- Experience with compliance testing, trust accounting, eligibility, employer contribution calculations, and Form 5500 preparation.
- Knowledge of ERISA regulations and retirement plan administration best practices.
- QKA (Qualified 401(k) Administrator) or an equivalent retirement plan credential.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a collaborative, client-focused approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience using Relius retirement plan administration software.
- Understanding of daily retirement plan recordkeeping processes.
- Passion for delivering outstanding client service.
