A client of Talent HRizon in New Orleans area is looking for a Procurement Specialist that has experience in a manufacturing environment
Responsibilities:
• Execute purchasing for parts and raw materials using Oracle’s MRP planning process and approved requisitions
• Create and manage purchase orders to optimize inventory, cost, lead time, and production needs
• Maintain purchasing parameters including safety stock, min/max quantities, lead times, and costs
• Source components from qualified suppliers to meet technical, quality, cost, and delivery requirements
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, including vetting capabilities, quality, cost, and delivery performance
• Manage the full Procure-to-Pay cycle in Oracle, including creating purchase requisitions (PRs), issuing purchase orders (POs), and tracking delivery status
• Collaborate with Engineering and Production to align specifications, priorities, and cost objectives
• Proactively manage critical and high risk purchases, including expediting when necessary
• Manage supplier performance, vendor relationships, and alternative sourcing options
• Monitor markets and inventory to mitigate supply risks and avoid over or under ordering
• Analyze purchasing data and report on supplier performance, cost trends, and improvement opportunities
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain/Logistics Management, Engineering, or a related field
• 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or related industrial environment
• Proven experience sourcing custom machined parts, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material
• Strong understanding of engineering, production, and sourcing best practices
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced working knowledge of Excel; PowerPoint and Word proficiency required
• Experience using ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to review production plans and forecasts to anticipate long lead and critical material requirements
• Highly detail oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy, order integrity, and error prevention
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to make objective, data driven decisions
• Self-managed, highly organized, and proactive; capable of working independently with minimal supervision; must be flexible to manage shifting priorities
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven environment while collaborating effectively as part of a cross functional team
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in an HMLV, job shop, or custom manufacturing environment, with understanding of the unique challenges and dynamics of low-volume, high-mix procurement
• Knowledge of plastic and metal materials, manufacturing methods, and material selection considerations for machined or fabricated components
