Human Resources Director

Location: Turlock, CA

Salary Range: $130,000 – $150,000 annually


About the Opportunity

A well-established organization in the transportation and logistics industry is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to lead its HR function across a large, operational workforce.

This is a key leadership role supporting approximately 300 to 400 employees, including a significant driver population. The organization operates in a highly regulated environment, making this an ideal opportunity for an HR leader who thrives in compliance-driven, fast-paced industries.


Position Overview

The Human Resources Director will serve as the senior HR leader, overseeing all aspects of human resources operations including recruiting, onboarding, compliance, employee relations, payroll and benefits oversight, and HR systems.

This role will lead a small HR team and partner closely with safety and operations leadership to ensure compliance with federal, state, and Department of Transportation regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the HR team, including direct supervision of staff
  • Provide strategic direction and day-to-day oversight of HR operations
  • Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and workforce planning for both driver and corporate populations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, California, and DOT regulations
  • Manage employee relations, investigations, and performance management
  • Oversee payroll, benefits, and compensation strategy
  • Partner with safety leadership on compliance and training initiatives
  • Manage HR systems, reporting, and department budget


Qualifications

  • 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, or other regulated industries preferred
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and DOT compliance
  • Experience leading HR teams and supporting large employee populations
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or HR certification preferred
