Project Manager – Electrical Construction

Our client is a well-established, employee-owned electrical contractor with approximately 1,800 employees and multiple locations throughout the region. The company specializes in commercial and industrial electrical construction, providing large- and small-scale electrical services, 24/7 service, design-build assistance, prefabrication, and project delivery for complex facilities. With significant growth and several major projects underway, the organization is expanding its project management team. This opportunity is supporting a large-scale wastewater treatment project in the Omaha metro area with a multi-year construction timeline and a contract value of approximately $40 million. This is a fully onsite position based at the project location, with no out-of-town or overnight travel required.

About the Role

The Project Manager will support the Lead Project Manager in organizing, coordinating, and controlling electrical construction activities for a major wastewater project. This individual will help ensure project documentation, purchasing, billing, materials, work orders, and administrative processes remain accurate and on schedule while communicating project risks, opportunities, and status to the appropriate stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working onsite and collaborating closely with project leadership, field teams, customers, vendors, and other project partners.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Project Manager with organizing and controlling project activities from preconstruction through completion.
• Support the management and execution of a large-scale wastewater electrical construction project.
• Communicate project risks, opportunities, progress, and status to project leadership and stakeholders.
• Prepare, review, and maintain purchase orders, submittals, invoices, and other project documentation.
• Manage work orders and ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and properly processed.
• Assist with project administration, estimating, and cost-control activities.
• Monitor project billing schedules and ensure time-entry information is accurate and current.
• Assist with material requisitions and coordinate with accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
• Support completion and submission of customer-required forms and documentation.
• Work closely with field personnel and project leadership to keep project activities organized and moving forward.
• Help identify potential project issues and communicate them proactively to the Lead Project Manager.
• Maintain accurate project records and ensure required documentation is completed in a timely manner.
• Work onsite at the project location and collaborate with project stakeholders throughout the construction process.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred.

Required Skills

• The ideal candidate will have proven electrical construction project management experience, with direct experience supporting or managing wastewater electrical projects strongly preferred.
• Because this is a highly specialized project, the company is looking for someone who understands electrical construction and can immediately contribute in a complex industrial environment.
• Candidates with a General Contractor background alone will not be considered unless they also have meaningful electrical construction experience.
• Approximately 5–10 years of construction project management experience preferred for the PM 2/PM 3 level.
• Proven experience in electrical construction is required.
• Wastewater electrical experience is strongly preferred and is the key differentiator for this position.
• Experience with large-scale industrial, commercial, municipal, or infrastructure electrical projects is highly relevant.
• Ability to assist with project documentation, purchasing, submittals, billing, work orders, materials, and project administration.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple project priorities.
• Ability to identify and communicate project risks, opportunities, and status.
• Experience with CMiC, FieldPoint, or Primavera P6 is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
• Must be comfortable working onsite at a major construction project.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate project records.
• Ability to work effectively with project managers, field personnel, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Candidates with GC-only experience and no electrical construction background will not be considered.
• A PM 1-level candidate may be considered with approximately 0–5 years of construction project management experience if they demonstrate strong electrical construction fundamentals and relevant project experience.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CMiC, FieldPoint, or Primavera P6 is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
