About the Opportunity
A long-standing, employee-owned (ESOP) construction company is seeking an experienced Federal Site Safety & Health Manager (SSHO) to lead safety operations on a one-year, on-site federal construction project at Minot Air Force Base.
This is a traveling position — you'll relocate from project to project as assignments come up across the company's federal/DOD construction portfolio, with this Minot AFB assignment being the first stop. Housing allowance and per diem are provided to support this travel-based role.
- Location: Minot, ND (on-site at Minot AFB) — first assignment in an ongoing rotation of projects
- Schedule: Monday–Friday
- Contract Length: 1 year at this site (long-term employment with the company as W2 employee; additional projects follow as a traveling SSHO)
- Compensation: $100,000–$125,000 base salary
- Bonus: 15% annual bonus
- Housing Allowance: $3,300/month
- Per Diem: $2,000/month
What You'll Do
- Implement and enforce project-specific safety plans in accordance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards
- Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and submit detailed safety reports
- Manage PPE procurement and distribution across the project site
- Lead safety orientations and weekly toolbox talks
- Review subcontractor safety documentation and submittals
- Lead incident investigations and manage post-accident reporting
- Maintain safety records, SDS documentation, and compliance files
- Inspect and maintain Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
- Develop emergency response plans and conduct regular safety drills
- Software & Tools Used: Ms Suite, Bluebeam
Required Qualifications
- 5 years cumulative safety experience within the last 10 years managing or implementing safety and health programs (Level 1 SSHO qualifications);
- MUST be willing to travel as a long-term traveling employee, after this 1 year project in ND
- OSHA 30-hour certification
- MUST HAVE: Federal/DOD construction background, primarily US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); comfortable meeting Corps/project requirements even when a project is administered by another federal or military agency
