Fire Protection Sales Engineer

Position Overview
The Fire Protection Sales Professional will be responsible for developing design-build opportunities, preparing estimates and proposals, reviewing construction documents, and maintaining strong relationships with owners, contractors, and end users. This position combines technical sales, estimating, project involvement, and customer relationship management throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, and key decision-makers
- Identify customer needs and create customized fire protection solutions
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules
- Complete detailed take-offs, estimates, and proposal packages
- Perform hazard analysis and value engineering for design-build projects
- Manage and maintain a healthy proposal and bid backlog
- Participate in project kick-off meetings and remain involved throughout project execution
- Coordinate change orders, customer concerns, and project follow-up activities
- Track sales activity, bid results, and project documentation
- Conduct site visits and building evaluations as needed
- Support projects involving wet and dry pipe sprinkler systems
- Collaborate with internal design, project management, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in fire protection, construction, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or a related industry
- Experience with estimating, bidding, take-offs, and proposal preparation
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of design-build project environments
- Strong customer-facing communication and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Experience using AutoCAD
- Familiarity with AutoSPRINK or Hydrotech software
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and follow-through skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 4 years of relevant industry experience
- Fire sprinkler system design experience
- NICET Water-Based Layout certification
- Experience with hydraulic calculations and system layouts
- Special hazards, foam, or clean agent system experience
- Background serving commercial, industrial, and residential clients
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $80,000 - $100,000/year depending on experience and technical background
- Commission structure with earnings typically ranging from 25% to 50% of base salary annually
