CNC/Manual Machinist – Precision Manufacturing

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 10-hour shifts, 3:20 PM–1:50 AM (swing shift) Pay: $27–$35/hour, based on experience Shift Differential: Additional $1.00/hour, scaling up to $3.00/hour over time Sign-On Bonus: $2,000


About the Role

A manufacturer in Spokane Valley is hiring an experienced Machinist to set up and operate CNC and/or manual machines including lathes and mills to tight tolerances. This role calls for a precision-focused operator who can read prints and specifications and consistently deliver quality parts using safe, efficient practices.


What You'll Do

  • Set up and run CNC and/or manual production equipment, primarily lathes and mills.
  • Configure and adjust fixtures, cutting tools, and work instructions to machine parts per spec.
  • Determine appropriate feed and speed settings for various cutting operations.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues affecting machined part quality.
  • Monitor tool wear and set replacement intervals accordingly.
  • Perform routine fixture upkeep and tool offset edits.
  • Edit G&M code and offsets for CNC operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process or product improvement and collaborate with the team to implement them.
  • Maintain safe operating practices at all times.
  • Hold parts to required tolerances consistently.
  • Collaborate across teams and support cross-functional needs.
  • Cross-train on additional machine types as needed.
  • Follow established work instructions and documentation standards.
  • Keep thorough, accurate production records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and perform basic machine upkeep.
  • Flex hours beyond a standard 40-hour week when production needs require it.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.


What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years of CNC or manual machining experience.
  • Alternate paths accepted: 2 years of experience plus an Associate's degree in Machining Technology, or 1 year of experience plus an accredited trade/vocational machining certificate.
  • Hands-on experience setting up and running various machine shop equipment.
  • Solid understanding of machining characteristics across materials such as steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and composites.
  • Comfort with machine and tooling operation and upkeep.
  • Ability to machine to precise specifications and interpret mechanical drawings for tolerance, fit, and process control.
  • Practical experience with precision measuring tools — calipers, protractors, radius/thread gauges, micrometers.


Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing setting with exposure to moving equipment, machinery, and vibration. Employees may encounter fumes, airborne particles, and chemical exposure, along with typical manufacturing risks such as electrical hazards. Some duties may involve elevated or confined work areas, outdoor conditions, temperature extremes, and consistently high noise levels. Appropriate PPE is required at all times.
