About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Engineer / Project Manager to support commercial construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. This position plays a key role in project coordination, subcontractor management, scheduling, budgeting, documentation control, and field operations support.
The ideal candidate has experience managing commercial construction projects, strong technical knowledge of construction processes, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, architects, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities: Project Management & Coordination
- Support the execution and technical management of commercial construction projects from planning through completion.
- Coordinate daily activities with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
- Review project plans, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents.
- Identify constructability concerns and assist in developing practical solutions.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
- Review subcontractor proposals and vendor quotations.
- Support estimating activities for construction management and self-performed work.
- Monitor project costs and prepare monthly cost projections.
Scheduling & Documentation
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules.
- Track project milestones and deliverables.
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes and project reports.
- Manage project documentation, including:
- RFIs (Requests for Information)
- Submittals
- Change Orders
- Change Proposals
- Owner Requests
Contract & Subcontract Administration
- Assist with contract review and compliance requirements.
- Process subcontract agreements and subcontractor change orders.
- Coordinate procurement activities and vendor communications.
Construction Administration
- Participate in project meetings with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Conduct site visits and monitor project progress.
- Support quality control, punch list completion, and project closeout activities.
- Help identify and resolve field issues impacting project performance, safety, or schedule.
Team Collaboration & Mentorship
- Coordinate and review work completed by junior project engineers.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.
- Collaborate with project teams to maintain project quality and client satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in commercial construction project engineering, project management, or related construction roles.
- Experience supporting construction projects from planning through completion.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project delivery processes.
- Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Knowledge of budgeting, cost tracking, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or institutional construction projects.
- Experience supporting project budgets ranging from small renovations to large-scale commercial developments.
- Familiarity with project management and construction software platforms.

Work Environment
- Combination of office and active construction jobsite environments.
- Regular travel to project sites within the region.
- Frequent interaction with clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and field personnel.
- Ability to walk construction sites, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
