Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tool and Die Machinist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, and molds used in manufacturing processes. Your expertise will ensure the production of high-quality components through precise machining and tooling setup. Duties
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD to develop tooling designs.
- Set up and operate CNC machining centers including CNC lathes, milling machines, grinders, and electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment to produce accurate tooling components.
- Program CNC machines utilizing CAM programming techniques to ensure precise machining operations aligned with engineering specifications.
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measurement instruments to verify part tolerances and quality standards.
- Fabricate tooling components through manual machining processes such as turning, milling, grinding, welding, and fabrication techniques.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics for metal machining, stamping presses, or plastics injection molding tooling applications.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on machining equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Experience
- Proven experience in toolroom environments with a strong background in CNC machining (lathe and milling machines).
- Proficiency in CAD software including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar programs for designing tooling components.
- Skilled in CNC programming using G-code or other relevant languages for CNC lathe and milling machines.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles for precise measurement and quality control.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as plastics injection molding or stamping press operations is a plus.
- Mechanical blueprint interpretation skills combined with shop math proficiency for accurate fabrication.
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), grinders, hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
