Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in New York, New York.
Overview
This role involves performing hands-on maintenance and repairs to ensure the smooth operation of clients' facilities. The technician will handle various building systems, respond to service requests, and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for occupants.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily building inspections across all floors, common areas, restrooms, and critical systems rooms to identify maintenance needs.
- Manage work orders using Nuvolo, including prioritizing, performing repairs, and documenting progress with notes and photos.
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, troubleshoot thermostats, review building management system alarms, and respond to comfort issues.
- Perform plumbing maintenance such as repairing leaks, maintaining fixtures, servicing pumps, unclogging drains, and adjusting restroom partitions.
- Complete general maintenance tasks including painting, ceiling tile replacement, carpet repairs, window shade installation, and hardware adjustments.
- Replace lighting fixtures, bulbs, switches, and outlets, managing inventory of electrical supplies.
- Maintain appliances and specialty systems like ice machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, and coffee equipment through inspections and minor repairs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent certification.
- 1-3 years of hands-on building maintenance or facilities operations experience.
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, and general building maintenance practices with troubleshooting ability.
- Strong technical aptitude with hand and power tools, building automation systems, and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and respond to urgent requests.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in mechanical spaces, and perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills with a professional demeanor when interacting with occupants, vendors, and team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Nuvolo, Maximo, SAP, or similar.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) for communication and reporting.
- Technical certification or vocational training in facilities maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and interpreting system data, alarms, and control sequences.
- OSHA safety training, EPA certifications, or other relevant safety and technical credentials.
- Experience working in Class A commercial office buildings with tenant service standards and expectations.
